Virgin Islands International Academy Argentina Exchange Program
While in Argentina with a group of exchange students and the program going so well, there was talk among the Argentines if there would be a program for the coming year. When the students found out that I was taking a leave from New Jersey to teach in St. Thomas at VIMSIA they urged for Alejandrina and I to create a program between their school and VIMSIA for the coming year. So we did! There are 10 students ready to come to St. Thomas in February 2011 and I am looking for 10 students at VIMSIA who will host them and travel to their Argentine partner's house in May. Through online collaboration, before my students have entered the program, they made short videos to introduce the Argentine students. They used iMovie and they are awesome! Argentina Exchange Program
This was incredible. My Spanish IV conversation students connected with students in Bahía Blanca, Argentina and had some powerful video conferences where students from both countries shared with each other typical products they use and some of the things they do each day. During these conferences, it was apparent that my students we looking for something even greater- a way they could actually experience the lives of Argentine students. After planning via Skype with Alejandrina, the Argentine teacher, our proposal for an full student exchange program between Rosario Vera Peñalosa in Bahia Blanca, Argentina and Hunterdon Central in Central New Jersey was approved by our district's Board of Education! The first part of our exchange program begins in February of 2010 when 10 Argentine students will be staying with students selected. We will be traveling to Bahia Blanca this coming June of 2010!Bilingual Fashion Show
